The confessions of a Bikini girl Neha Dhupia

Neha DhupiaNeha Dhupia was dubbed as the bikini girl when she hit the silver screen with 'Qayamat' some five years ago. A slew of sleazy films of the 'Julie' and 'Sheesha' kinds followed. And Neha ended up being tagged as a wannabe sex symbol.

But now the actress has shifted to serious cinema and is enjoying it like anything. But she doesn't mind the fact that her glam quotient has come down.

She's been saying, "Maybe, but the satisfaction is immense, and the contentment I derive from my work today is multifold. Being a part of simple, beautiful films like 'Mithya', 'Maharathi', 'Dasvidaniya' and working with the likes of Vinay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal... has given me more than money ever could. They're stalwarts and they do no wrong!"

But she's a bit bitter about many so called docile B-Town girls going for sexy makeovers.

She's said, "Now those hypocritical, double-standard people are wearing bikinis themselves. And those who reprimanded me are applauding them like there's no tomorrow! But you know what? I don't think wearing a two-piece is cool anymore. I've been there, done that years ago!"

She's totally okay with her current status.

She's said, "I've dabbled with 'commercial films' at the beginning of my career. But priorities change over time.

Yes, I could've made obnoxious amount of money – much more than I'm making today – by taking up more commercially viable projects. But what am I going to do with so much money? I'm earning enough, and I'm living a more than comfortable life."

She's added, "And if I'm working with Nasseer and Paresh, I've also worked with the Akshay Kumars, Ajay Devgans and Emraan Hashmis."

This one seems to be a content babe as of now. Let's see what the future holds for her!

Kareena says No to British PM for Karan Johar

Kareena Kapoor
Kareena left on Sunday night to shoot in the below-freezing temperature in Philadelphia. Kareena Kapoor is so excited about shooting this film produced by Karan Johar that she has said no to a special invitation from the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

"It was a huge honour. I was the only invitee from Bollywood and it always feels great to represent our country. It was an invitation from the British House Of Commons to visit the Prime Minister. But if I had gone Karan Johar's dates would've suffered."

"What to do?" sighs the overworked Diva as she gathered her wits and clothes for her imminent departure. "I don't have the time. Besides, the invitation came too late….My fault.

They couldn't access me, so they finally had to get to me through my father. By then it was too late for me to accommodate a flying visit to the House Of Commons for this uncommon honour. So sad."

"Wake up and strike terrorism with an iron hand", Bollywood's stars.

Bipasa Basu
Wake up and strike terrorism with an iron hand, say Bollywood's stars shocked by the brazen terror attack that targeted Mumbai's poshest areas. From Hema Malini, who worries about her daughters, to Bipasha Basu, who narrowly missed the Vile Parle blast, this terror strike has shaken them all.

Bipasha Basu: It's shocking and scary. We're going through a very disturbing and inhuman phase. On Wednesday night, I travelled on the highway two minutes after the Vile Parle blast. There was mayhem on the roads.

John's (John Abraham) aunt, who works at the Taj (Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotels), reached home at 7 a.m. Thursday. I wonder where and when it will end.

Shveta Salve: Please send me Raj Thackeray's number, if you can find it. I don't know where he is when we need him. We want him to go and save 'Amchi Mumbai' along with his MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) men.

After all they are the 'sons of the soil', aren't they? The army, the commandos who are right now battling to save Mumbai are not all 'Marathi Manoos', are they? I wonder why they should risk their lives for us!

Hema Malini: I think the Mumbai police rose to the occasion. It is very sad that we lost some brave officers. Hats off to the army for rescuing people. It's really sad that Mumbai has become so unsafe. I wait with my heart in my mouth until Esha and Ahana are home. We desperately need more security.

Shilpa ShettyShilpa Shetty: I had an early morning shoot Thursday so I went to sleep early. I had no clue about what happened in my city until someone called from London to ask if I was alright. That's when I switched on the TV and quickly made calls to friends who live in town.

Raveena Tandon: We were in a restaurant in south Mumbai having dinner with friends when we started getting calls to leave immediately. We still waited. But then a policeman called and advised us to go home.

We headed home in groups and stayed on the phone till each of us reached safely. It's time for the corrupt politicians to wake up. Stop thinking of your vote banks and think of what's happening to the country.

Vishal Bhardwaj: My "Kaminey" unit was lucky. We were shooting a minute's distance away from the Taj and Oberoi hotels. We had to quickly gather our stuff and flee.

Shabana Azmi: I was on the phone with a friend in London when she asked me to switch on the TV. It's a diabolic war waged on our city and country. This isn't the time to place blame.

We need to maintain peace and communal harmony and cooperate with the police. Our condolences to police officers who sacrificed their lives. Terrorism should be struck down with an iron hand.

It makes me sad and angry that Mumbai residents are soft targets for such attacks. It's an unsettling feeling, especially since we seem not equipped to deal with it. This is an open war against humanity.

Celina JaitleyCelina Jaitley: I was at the Four Seasons hotel in Worli when the attacks happened. Till 3 a.m. Thursday we remained close to the exits and then we went up to our rooms. I got calls from friends and my security head to stay put. Is this really happening to our wonderful city?

Iqbal Khan: Mujahideen is such a sure and strong word. I'm sure they don't even know the meaning.

Arshad Warsi: I was on my way back from Panchgani Wednesday night. The explosion at Vile Parle happened 15-20 minutes after I passed by that area. I trust the police and army. They'll sort it out. Nothing can stop Mumbai residents from getting back to normal. But we need to exercise more caution.

Sammir Dattani: Five friends and I had a table booked at the Oberoi hotel for dinner. We were just a stone's throw away from the hotel when I changed my mind because I had an early morning flight. That's when we heard a loud explosion in the hotel. Before we could react, all hell broke loose. We quickly drove off.

Ash's surprise visit makes Abhishek nervous

Aishwarya Rai
According to sources Aishwarya visited the sets of Dilli 6 where Abhishekh was shooting a stunt scene. It was visible that it wasnt a pleasant surprise for Abhi. It seems that inspite of being marrried for over a year and a half there is still some tension between the couple.

The scene that was being shot was a stunt scene though not a major stunt scene but still it was a crucial one.

Everyone assumed that after shooting constantly for so many stunt scenes for Drona Abhishek must have got comfortable with them but the moment Ash entered the sets Abhishekh was seen to be disturbed.

In Dilli 6, Abhishek is opposite Sonam Kapoor and Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta, Rishi Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi are the other co stars.

The movie has been making since December last year and is thought to be based on the life of the director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and how he spend his years growing up in the old Delhi neighbourhood of Chandini Chowk. The name of the film is actually the pin code of the place and its due for release on February 13, 2009.

Kareena Kapoor collapses at home

Kareena Kapoor
The world knows that Saif Ali Khan is madly in love and very serious about his current girlfriend of a year, Kareena Kapoor.

He's reportedly said, "Yes, Kareena has been invited to Pataudi. It'd have been earlier, but it was too hot. Winter is when our family reunions happen every year and Kareena is now part of the family. My parents are extremely fond of Kareena."

He adds, "This relationship is 'IT' for me. Today I feel very settled and very happy, though a bit lonely. And when I've bad days, I feel I'm being ungrateful. I'm now looking forward to settling down with Kareena.

Our marriage will happen very shortly as soon as we both have a little less work on hand and we can give the marriage quality time. Also, her family has to be ready for our marriage."

"We're very close. She has been really gracious in inviting me into her family. She's made sure I'm part of her family. I've also met Daboo uncle (Randhir) a few times, shared friendly drinks with him.

As for Karisma, I think she's the sweetest girl ever in the world. I'm deeply fond of both Karisma and her husband Sanjay (Kapoor). They're truly wonderful people. Kareena's family has taken to me as warmly as my family has taken to her."

He thinks that his lifestyle has changed completely after his heart attack. He adds that if it wasn't for that life- changing experience, I wouldn't be in a relationship with Kareena right now. He now hardly drinks or smokes or parties.

But the buzz is that the love of his life is not keeping too well and her hectic schedule has taken a toll on her health. She has fever and has a throat infection too.

Confirms a source, "All this started after Kareena attended an event at Parel on Sunday evening. Her condition is so bad that she collapsed after coming home. She was in such terrible shape that her mom had to call in the doctor. He's giving her injections so that she can at least stand on her feet."

Kareena thinks that her collapse has been caused by overwork and exhaustion as she has been working non-stop for the last 6 months round the clock.

Without a Godfather, it's not a bad start: Mughda

Mugdha Godse
While Priyanka Chopra and Kangna Ranaut were always expected to walk away with all the accolades in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion, it was a wait and watch situation for newcomer Mugdha Godse.

Now as Fashion has released and doing quite well for itself at the box office, fresh talent Mugdha is finding appreciation coming her way.

In fact quite a few believe that Mugdha is pretty much the find of the year so far, a compliment that she truly cherishes.

"Who would mind hearing good things about herself? It is flattering to get so many compliments even when you know that it's someone else (Priyanka) in the movie and not you on whom the spotlight is all the time", says an ever smiling Mugdha who has gone all out in promoting the film.

After giving such a good account of herself in a performance oriented role and a great body to boast, it would be criminal to have her play a second or a third lead in her subsequent films. Yes, Fashion was a good platform but doesn't she feel that from here on, she deserves to be seen only in lead roles?

Mugdha says in a soft tone while continuing to smile, "But then without a Godfather, it's not a bad start after all, isn't it? Yahan par aap akele struggle karke is level tak pahaunchte ho!

Of course, I have been a model or a supermodel, howsoever you may call me, in real life, but finding good work on your own terms in movies is a different ballgame altogether."

She goes on to add, "You have to start afresh, go through the grind, struggle for the best opportunity to come your way. This way I guess Madhurji has got a very good role rolling for me in Fashion. I am glad his conviction in me and the character paid."

How is she busy taking all the compliments?

She laughs, "From those who are in the know-how in the industry and understand how it operates, I ask them a plain and simple question - 'Do you think this would lead to me getting more and better work?'

Ultimately this is where it boils down to. You may hear good things about you but the bottom line is to know how far it takes you in your career. I am ambitious enough and Fashion has turned out to be the first stepping stone in the right direction."

Priyanka is now a sexy girl next door

Priyanka Chopra
Tarun Mansukhani is mighty pleased with the kind of response he is getting for the bodies that John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra have acquired for DOSTANA. Accolodes have been coming in from all quarters as both John and Priyanka ignite the heat in their pursuit for acquiring best bodies in the town.

"While John has worked hard on his physique and made sure that heads (belonging to both women and men) turn around him wherever he goes, I am not surprised since he seems to have been born with a six pack abs.

What amazes me though is the strange body that Priyanka Chopra has", says Tarun Mansukhani, debutant director who is beginning his innings with this Karan Johar production.

How exactly?

"Well, she eats so much and doesn't even work out much. Still, she manages to hold her figure. I guess it's her metabolism that allows her to be this way. With DOSTANA, she could well be termed as a sexy girl next door", smiles Tarun.

Abhishek seems to be just the same though as in all his films, isn't it?

"In fact Abhi too has gone through some transformation as he was still working on DRONA when DOSTANA began. He was in fact the fittest since even when John would be tired, he would push him to get back on his feet and face the camera", reveals Tarun.

But he doesn't seem to be flaunting his body the way John is in the film. Why is that case?

Defends Tarun, "See the film and you would know for yourself. The kind of body type that he is carrying is something like is required for the character. It is truly in conjunction with the film. In any case, Abhi is a completely changed person for DOSTANA and is looking really fantastic." - Joginder Tuteja

Sonam Kapoor given the royal ignore

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor might be considered chic and beautiful in B-Town but she's miles away from acquiring international fame. In fact even her father Anil Kapoor has a long way to go!

The buzz is that she was totally ignored along with daddy dearest at the London Film Festival recently. Anil Kapoor was invited to promote the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' in which he has made a guest appearance as a TV show host.

According to a source, "Anil was supposed to come with his wife but instead took his daughter Sonam. The reason behind this could have been to promote her to the outside world, outside of Bollywood."

Unfortunately both father and daughter were sidelined by the media. No one approached them for interview or photographs.

Adds the source, "None of the British press was interested in taking photos of Sonam or her father. To them they were unknowns and not news-worthy."

Obviously both father and the daughter were disappointed and felt left out in the event.

Sonam baby, getting international fame is no cake walk. You need to be lucky enough for that!

Kareena to be Amrita's bridesmaid at wedding?

Kareena Kapoor
The buzz is that the 'Khan'daan hanger-on Amrita Arora is fed up being in the forever struggling mode (only doing movies with family and friends like Kareena) and is set to get married soon.

Close friends of the actress has claimed that this time it's for real and unlike the short term serial dating she did with the likes of Kamaal Khan, Ashmit Patel, Upen Patel and Usman Afzal.

The object of Amu's affection is Hyderabadi businessman Shakeel Ladak this time round.

The big fat wedding is supposed to take place in March 2009 but she's not willing to confirm or deny the news. She maintains that she'll divulge things when everything is fine. Maybe she's getting superstitious and too possessive about the whole thing.

The word is that banquet halls are being hunted for. There is supposed to be a grand reception in Mumbai, while the marriage itself will be a beautiful church wedding in Goa – something that Amrita has always wanted.

There is a strong chance that best friend Kareena is set to turn bridesmaid at the Goan do.

This one is sure to be a true blue filmi shaadi!

Hot n Sexy Shradha Sharma threatened by irate driver

Shradha Sharma

The hot, sexy and eye-popping glamour girl Shradha was threatened and verbally and physically assaulted by an irate and drunk lady driver late on Monday night.

The minor accident occurred near the Lokhandwala-Adarsh Nagar petrol pump, in suburban Mumbai Shradha who was driving her car on her way home accidentally bumped into a car ahead of her while trying to avoid a cyclist who cut across the road out of the blue.

Shradha was returning after her dance rehearsals and was understandably fatigued.

In order to save the cyclist from being knocked down Shradha had to swerve and ended up slightly denting the bumper of the car ahead of her.

In spite of apologizing to the other driver the woman began abusing and threatening her. She created a ruckus on the road screaming and yelling at the top of her voice so that a crowd gathered.

The damage to her car was very minor and negligible yet she behaved as though her car was smashed. It was only a small dent and that too in the course of saving the cyclist.

According to her Media Manager and Publicist, Flynn Remedios the situation could have got out of hand as the woman was drunk and tried to pull Shradha out of her car. Fortunately for Shradha some friends who were around intervened and sorted out the matter before the situation could go out of hand.

"Since the matter was sorted out, we decided not to go to the police, " said Flynn Remedios, who had in the meanwhile already contacted the Oshiwara Police Station.

Shradha was in her usual hot outfits and this further aroused the curiosity of the crowd, which was getting impatient to see who the sexy damsel in distress was.

Rahul, Monica playing dirty on Bigg Boss: Diana Hayden

Diana Hayden

Former beauty queen Diana Hayden, who was voted out of TV reality show "Bigg Boss" Friday, has blamed co-participants Rahul Mahajan and Monica Bedi for making the game "very dirty".

"The dirtiest game is being played by Rahul and Monica. They have no values or scruples, " Diana, who managed to stay in the "Bigg Boss" house for eight weeks, told over phone from Mumbai.

"I had the most amazing six weeks on the show, but the last two weeks got very dirty. Rahul never liked me because he knew that I could see what he was doing. They (Monica and Rahul) believed in doing everything for the camera. Fine you want to win, but its wrong to encourage fights, lie, and forget your values to win a game, " she added.

Diana, who was a late entrant in the show, entered the "Bigg Boss" house mid-September. Diana, who won the Miss World crown in 1997, said her stay in the house was a welcome break for her.

"I agreed to the show because I wanted to be a part of a competition. Also, I travel a lot, so I thought it'll be a welcome break for me. Just relaxing and eating good Indian food, " she said.

Although Diana was cordial with all other inmates of the show, her proximity with reality show MTV "Roadies 5.0" winner Ashutosh Kaushik, raised a few eyebrows in the public as well as within the "Bigg Boss" house.

"I gelled well with Ashutosh because he is a very simple and honest person. We are just very good friends. He is a charming person, very sweet and childish. He is funny and silly and that's why he used to do all those antics, by which people thought that he has feelings for me, " she said.

Rubbishing rumours of a romantic liaison with Ashutosh, Diana said: "I'm not in a relationship and don't want to be in one at the moment. I'm sure its only friendship even from his side."

Apart from Ashutosh, Diana was good friends with singer Debojit Saha, item girl Sambhavana Seth and non-celebrity participant Alina Wadiwala.

"I was very protective and defensive about Debojit, since he is a very simple person, " she said.

The model-turned-actress, who shifted base to Los Angeles a few years ago, is hopeful that Ashutosh wins the game.

"I really want Ashutosh to win because I feel that he deserves to be the winner. The audience should vote for persons who genuinely need the money and the opportunity, " averred Diana.

She has also advised the audience "to use their conscience" to vote.

"I agree that it's an entertainment show but still they should not vote for people who just lie and play dirty games, " she said.

Shama's affair?

Shama Sikander

Recently, when Vinod Kambli got to catch-up with the glamorous Shama Sikander (his on-screen partner of the reality dance show 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' on Colors), he left no stone unturned to woo the dame.

Not only did he make all efforts to impress her with his dance steps, but even sent her flowers when she fell ill. Later, Kambli gifted Shama a friendship band, that too with an evil eye on it. Wonder what was on his mind. "He's just a friend and my ex-dance partner on the show; nothing more, nothing less, " says Shama.

Born in the small town of Makrana in Rajasthan, Shama is a spunky Leo with varied interests like swimming, dancing, gyming and hold your breath… kick boxing. Getting slapped was humiliating: Preity Zinta

Priety Zinta

She's already bagged an award for her power-packed performance as a battered wife in "Heaven On Earth", but Bollywood star Preity Zinta says she was humiliated when co-star Vansh Bhardwaj, who plays her abusive husband, slapped her while shooting a scene.

"When we were shooting the film, there was a scene where my co-star had to slap me and, of course, it was a mistake as he took one step forward and actually went smack across my face.

It was the most humiliating experience of my life because everyone saw me getting slapped, " Preity told in an interview.

Preity got the Silver Hugo Award for best actress in the Feature Film Competition section at the 44th Chicago International Film Festival Oct 29.

The mishap on the sets of director Deepa Mehta's film brought Preity closer to reality and made her understand the character better.

"It changed my whole perception towards my role and I realised that it's so terrible to strip a woman of her spirit. It's better to die than to let your spirit die. This film took me to another zone; it just shattered me because I am someone who would immediately stand up for myself, " she said.

Known for her chirpy, bubbly and garrulous image in Bollywood, Preity would be seen at the receiving end in Mehta's film, which she says "completely broke" her heart.

She explained: "It was the most difficult film of my career.
Priety Zinta
It's also a film that completely broke my heart. I remember asking a woman, who was a victim of domestic violence and had left her husband, what the turning point in her relationship was and she said, 'I told my husband if you want to beat me, beat me in a room. But don't beat me in front of the family.'

"I could never understand that. Beating someone is bad and it doesn't matter if it's alone or in front of others. It's terrible. I really didn't know what it was to be in a situation like this till I did the film."

Preity has of late been accepting non-commercial projects, including the recently released "The Last Lear" and Jahnu Barua's "Har Pal".

Why the sudden interest in off-beat films?

"I did 'Heaven on Earth' because I thought if a commercial actor like me ventured into something like this, it would provide a broader platform. It was something that really inspired me and I was very excited about. I always played stronger roles so this was a change for me.

"I'm happy that the film will get more eyeballs thanks to the recognition it has got. To me, I'll be ultimately happy if every family will see the film, especially the men, " said Preity.

Priety ZintaThe actress said that while the movie did not have "the trappings of music and song and dance", it was still very close to her heart "because it tackles immigration; it tackles domestic violence - topics that we like to brush under the carpet".

The year so far has brought her much critical acclaim as her performances in both "The Last Lear" and "Heroes" were widely appreciated.

The actress added that she would return to her trademark girl-next-door image only if she was offered a role with "substance".

"I will do masala movies for sure, but I would like to have substance in them. I can't do just the glam chick any longer. I've been there, done that. It just doesn't inspire me any more. I have to leave that for the other girls to do. That's the way one grows, " she said.

Preity's "Heaven on Earth" will have its worldwide commercial release in November end and she will also be seen in "Har Pal" and "Main Aur Mrs. Khanna".
